Had a pretty nasty storm roll through last night, and woke up to gutters overflowing with leaves, twigs, and who knows what else. Figured I'd tackle it myself today since it's sunny again. Here's how I usually do it:
First, I grab a sturdy ladder and some gloves (trust me, you don't wanna touch that slimy stuff bare-handed). Then I scoop out the big chunks of debris by hand into a bucketβtedious but effective. After that, I flush the gutters with a garden hose to clear out smaller bits and check for blockages in the downspouts. If there's still blockage, I use an old wire hanger or plumber's snake to poke through.
Finally, I double-check everything drains properly by running water again. Usually works fine for me, but honestly it's kinda messy and takes forever.
Does anyone have a quicker or less gross way of handling this? Or maybe some clever tool or trick I'm missing...
