I recently went through this myself—first-time homeowner here, so warranty fine print was a rude awakening. Did some digging afterward, and here's what I found helpful:

1. Premium brands usually do have clearer warranty terms, but labor coverage is almost always separate or limited.
2. Look specifically for brands that offer certified installers—this can sometimes extend your labor warranty.
3. Check online reviews/forums specifically about warranty claims, not just product quality.

Honestly, pricier doesn't always equal hassle-free...but it can mean fewer headaches if you pick carefully.

Man, warranties are such a rabbit hole, aren't they? I swear companies hire lawyers just to make sure we can't understand half of it. 😂 But seriously, your point about certified installers is spot-on—had a buddy who went with a cheaper brand but got lucky with a certified installer, and it saved him big-time when things went sideways. So maybe the sweet spot is mid-range tiles with solid installer backing? Anyway, sounds like you're already doing better homework than most of us did...

Good points about installers, but honestly, I'd still lean towards investing in a higher-end tile brand if budget allows. Mid-range tiles can be solid, sure, but I've seen some fade and chip way sooner than expected—even with a great installer. Had a neighbor who went premium on tiles and mid-tier on installation; roof still looks pristine 10 years later. Guess it's a balancing act, but quality tiles seem to pay off long-term...

Definitely makes sense to go premium if you can swing it. But here's a curveball for ya—have you ever thought about sustainable or "green" tiles? I've seen some recycled composite tiles hold up surprisingly well over the years. A buddy of mine installed those eco-friendly tiles about 6 years back, and despite my initial skepticism (I mean, recycled tires on a roof?), they're still looking sharp. Might be worth exploring if you're into the eco angle...

Good point on the recycled composite tiles—I've inspected a few homes with those installed, and they're surprisingly durable. One thing I'd add is that proper installation is key; I've seen a couple cases where improper fastening led to issues down the line. But overall, if you're aiming for sustainability without sacrificing longevity, they're definitely worth considering. Just make sure whoever installs them knows the manufacturer's specs inside out...
