Shingles are there to keep water out, not air.
Yeah, learned that the hard way. I put new shingles on a few years back—looked great, but my upstairs was still freezing in winter. Ended up crawling around the attic with a can of spray foam. Should’ve started there first... shingles just kept the rain out, not the drafts.

That’s the thing—shingles are like a raincoat, not a parka. I went down the same road, spent a chunk on new asphalt shingles, but my heating bill barely budged. Honestly, if I could do it over, I’d look at something with better insulation built in, or even a green roof. Plants and soil add a surprising amount of thermal mass... plus, they look way cooler than plain old shingles. Anyone else tried that route?
