Finally beat the green roof monster - my shingles are algae-free!
Honestly, I was getting pretty fed up with the greenish streaks taking over my roof every year. Tried power washing, sprays, you name it...nothing really lasted. Finally bit the bullet and got those algae-resistant shingles installed last spring. And guess what? Roof still looks great, no slimy green patches creeping back in. Feels like a small victory, haha. Curious if anyone else had good luck with these or found another trick that actually works long-term?

For future replacements, algae-resistant shingles can reduce recurring streaks, but they work best alongside fixing the conditions that keep a roof damp. Shade from trees, poor ventilation, clogged gutters, or areas where moisture collects can still encourage growth, even on treated shingles. Treat the shingles as one part of preventing recurrence rather than a complete fix on their own.
