Totally agree about digital visualizers—they can be helpful but also super misleading. When we redid our roof, I was set on charcoal shingles because they looked amazing on the app. But when we got samples home, they seemed way too dark against our beige siding, almost harsh. Ended up going with a softer brownish-gray instead. Crazy how much natural light and surroundings affect things... definitely pays off to check samples at different times of day before committing.

Good points all around. Few things I'd add from my experience:

- Definitely agree on checking samples throughout the day—morning vs afternoon makes a huge difference.
- Also, weather matters. We picked a gray that looked perfect on sunny days but felt kinda gloomy when cloudy. Wish we'd checked it out in more varied weather.
- Digital tools are great for ideas, but nothing beats real-life samples taped up next to your siding... even if neighbors think you're losing it for staring at shingles all week, haha.

True, but I'd argue digital tools have come a long way lately. We used a visualizer app that accounted for weather and lighting changes surprisingly well—saved us from the neighborhood staring sessions, haha.

Haha, totally relate to this. When we redid ours, digital tools were handy at first, but I still ended up taping samples outside. Something about seeing it in person just clicked differently—though I did get some curious looks from neighbors walking dogs...

Haha, digital previews are cool and all, but honestly, nothing beats the good old-fashioned "tape and stare" method. Screens never quite match reality anyway...neighbors might judge, but hey, at least you won't regret your roof color later.
