"Corrugated metal's a decent option, but have you thought about asphalt shingles?"

Yeah, shingles are usually easier to match, but aren't they a bit vulnerable in heavy winds? Seen plenty ripped off after storms... still, probably cheaper to replace than metal panels. Worth considering, I guess.

Yeah, shingles can definitely take a beating in strong winds, but honestly, I've seen metal panels get pretty banged up too—especially if debris starts flying around. Have you checked if your insurance covers storm damage repairs? Sometimes that can ease the sting of replacement costs. Either way, sounds like you're thinking it through carefully... good luck with whatever you decide!

If you're trying to get a rough idea, I'd suggest first doing a quick walk-around to spot obvious damage—missing shingles, dents, loose flashing. Then call around for a couple quotes. Prices can swing pretty widely depending on your area and how busy contractors are after storms...

Totally agree on the walk-around—can't tell you how many times I've seen folks miss obvious stuff like bent gutters or cracked vent boots. And yeah, prices get wild after storms. Contractors know you're desperate, so don't jump at the first quote...shop around a bit.

Yeah, learned that lesson the hard way. After our last big storm, first quote came in crazy high—thought we had no choice. Waited a bit, got two more estimates...ended up saving hundreds. Pays to be patient if you can swing it.
