I always tell people, take photos like you’re documenting a crime scene. It’s a pain, but it’s saved my bacon more than once.

Couldn’t agree moreβ€”water damage is like that one guest who shows up uninvited and never leaves. I’ve seen folks skip photos and end up in endless arguments with insurance. One guy I worked with had to rip out his whole basement because a tiny leak turned into a mold party. Always better to over-document than under, even if you feel a bit silly snapping pics of soggy carpet.
