"Still beats dealing with spray foam though; reopening that stuff is a nightmare."

Haha, true...but have you considered using rigid foam insulation boards instead? They're pretty cheap, easy to cut, and way less messy than spray foam. Might save you from the adhesive drama next winter.

Rigid foam boards are definitely easier to handle—I used them last year when I redid my basement walls. Just measure, cut with a utility knife, and pop them into place. No sticky mess or waiting around for it to cure. But how do they hold up in attics with tricky angles and tight spaces? My attic's got some weird corners, so I'm curious if anyone's tackled that yet...

Rigid foam boards are indeed practical for straightforward spaces, but from my experience, they can be challenging in attics with irregular angles. I insulated my attic a couple of years ago, and while the foam boards were great for larger flat areas, I found spray foam insulation more effective in tight corners and awkward gaps. It expands to fill those tricky spots completely, ensuring better thermal performance overall. Just something to consider if your attic layout is particularly complicated...

Haha, yeah, rigid foam is awesome until you hit those weird angles...then it's like playing Tetris on hard mode. Spray foam saved my sanity more than once—glad I'm not the only one who struggled with that!

Haha, totally relate to the Tetris analogy. A few years back, I was wrestling rigid foam into place around some skylights—talk about weird angles and awkward cuts. Ended up switching to spray foam halfway through, and it was like night and day. Messy stuff, but worth it for sanity alone...and the attic temps dropped nicely too. Glad you found something that worked!
