I totally get that lingering worry after storms—been there myself. Sounds like the metal roof was a game changer for you. I've been debating going metal too, but the cost has me hesitating. Did you notice a big difference right away, or did it take a few storms to really trust it? Good call on the drainage mat though; those little upgrades always seem minor until they're not...

I've been on the fence about a metal roof too—mostly because of the upfront cost. But after dealing with a couple storms that had me pacing around at 2 a.m., I'm starting to think peace of mind might be worth it. Did you notice a big drop in attic temps right away with the metal roof, or was it more gradual? I've heard mixed things about how quickly metal roofs actually help with cooling. Also, curious about noise levels during heavy rain—does it get annoying, or is that just an exaggerated myth? Trying to weigh out comfort vs. cost here...

Metal roofs definitely help with attic temps, but it's not always an overnight miracle. Usually, you'll notice a gradual improvement over a few days, especially if you pair it with proper attic ventilation or reflective barriers. About the noise thing—honestly, that's a bit exaggerated. If your attic has decent insulation, heavy rain isn't much louder than with shingles. But yeah, upfront cost is no joke... still, long-term savings and fewer 2 a.m. storm worries might balance that out.
