Glad you shared this, makes me feel a bit better about my own attic drama. I'm new to homeownership and trying to figure out why our attic sounds like a marching band during storms. Never even thought about the decking thickness... Did you notice any clues beforehand that pointed to warped OSB, or was it only obvious once you took everything apart? Feels overwhelming sometimes, but hearing your experience helps a ton.

Totally get how overwhelming it feels at first—attics can be sneaky like that. Usually warped OSB isn't obvious until you peel things back, but sometimes you'll spot subtle dips or uneven spots beforehand. Hang in there, sounds like you're already on the right track figuring things out.

Had a similar issue with my attic a couple years back—thought everything was fine until I noticed some weird dips when walking around up there. Turned out the OSB had warped from moisture buildup due to poor ventilation. Ended up adding soffit vents and a ridge vent, and it made a huge difference in temps and humidity levels. Definitely worth checking your ventilation setup if you haven't already...

Had nearly the exact same scenario in a rental property last summer—noticed the attic felt oddly spongy underfoot. Moisture was causing havoc on the OSB boards. Ended up installing some soffit vents and an attic fan to boost airflow... made a noticeable difference almost immediately. Ventilation really is key, especially in humid climates. Glad you got yours sorted!

Interesting you mention attic fans—I looked into them myself but hesitated after reading some mixed opinions. Some sources argued that attic fans can actually pull conditioned air from inside the house, driving up energy bills. Did you notice any spike in your electricity usage afterward? I'm leaning more toward passive solutions like ridge vents or better insulation... curious if anyone else has thoughts on this.
