Haha, glad you caught yourself! Been there myself—nowadays I stick to a simple routine: spray diluted vinegar every spring, gently brush off the moss, and check shingles carefully from a sturdy ladder. Saves money and keeps me off the neighbor's highlight reel...mostly.

Good call on the diluted vinegar—it's a solid, environmentally friendly choice. Ever notice any issues with vinegar affecting metal flashing or gutters, though? I've come across a few cases where folks went a bit heavy-handed, and it caused some minor corrosion over time. Usually nothing serious, just something to keep an eye on.

Also curious—do you ever check attic ventilation when you're up there? Proper airflow can play a huge role in preventing moisture buildup and moss growth from the inside out. Had a client once who religiously cleaned moss every spring but kept getting regrowth due to trapped moisture from poor ventilation. Once we addressed that, his roof stayed cleaner way longer.

Anyway, sounds like you've got a decent handle on things...and bonus points for staying off the neighbor's blooper reel, haha.

Haven't personally seen vinegar cause issues with my gutters yet, but now you've got me second-guessing myself, haha. Good point about ventilation though—I probably should check mine. Anyone know if those roof vent fans actually make a noticeable difference?

I've wondered about those roof vent fans myself—my uncle installed one last summer and swears by it, but honestly, he also swears by those magnetic bracelets for arthritis, so... grain of salt, maybe? 😂 In seriousness though, he did mention his attic felt noticeably cooler afterward. Not exactly scientific data, but still interesting.

As for vinegar in gutters—I haven't tried that trick yet. I usually just climb up there twice a year with gloves and a bucket and curse my life choices. But now I'm curious: what's the vinegar supposed to do exactly? Keep algae away or something? I'd be more worried about it affecting the metal over time, but maybe that's just paranoia talking.

On ventilation, totally agree it's worth checking out. I had some mold issues in my attic last winter and found out the hard way that my vents were basically decorative at that point—completely blocked by insulation someone had carelessly blown in years ago. Cleared them out, added some better soffit vents, and it made a huge difference. No more moldy surprises this year (knock on wood).

Still debating if I should go all-in on the fan though. Anyone else have experiences with them actually lowering cooling bills or is it mostly hype?

I've been thinking about one of those attic fans too, but I'm still on the fence. My neighbor swears it cut his AC use down noticeably, but he's also convinced mowing his lawn diagonally makes the grass grow faster, so... who knows? Has anyone noticed noise issues with them though?
