I've definitely seen a connection between attic ventilation and shingle lifespan. My last house had asphalt shingles and poor attic airflow when I bought it. Those shingles curled and cracked way sooner than they should've—maybe 12 years in, tops. After redoing the roof and upgrading the vents, same type of shingles, they were still looking solid after 15 years. Color didn't seem to matter as much as keeping that attic cool and dry...

Totally agree with you there. Had a similar issue at my folks' place—shingles started curling after just 10 years. Once we improved ventilation, things held up way better, even through some nasty storms. Proper airflow is key, for sure.

Same here, ventilation made a huge difference for us too. We originally thought lighter shingles would help, but nope... still had moisture issues. Once we added ridge vents and soffit vents, attic stayed dry and shingles lasted way longer.

We had a similar experience—thought we could get away with just replacing shingles, but nope... moisture kept coming back. Finally bit the bullet and installed ridge vents. Night and day difference, honestly. Wish we'd done it sooner, would've saved some headaches (and cash).

Interesting take on ridge vents, glad it worked out for you. We've been dealing with moisture issues too, but honestly, just improving attic insulation and sealing up air leaks made a huge difference for us. Ridge vents seemed like overkill (and pricey) when simpler fixes did the trick. Might depend on your house layout or climate though... guess there's no one-size-fits-all solution for roofing headaches.
