Good call on insulation and ventilation—you're spot-on. Heated cables can help in a pinch, but they're kinda like duct-taping your bumper back on...works for now, but won't fix the real issue. And yeah, attic crawling is no one's idea of fun (trust me, I've seen things up there I can't unsee...), but it's worth it. Keep at it—sounds like you're on the right track.

Yeah, heated cables are definitely a band-aid fix. I've seen tenants rely on them way too much, and then they're surprised when the roof still leaks come spring thaw. Honestly though, attic crawling isn't always necessary if you stay ahead of things—regular checks from the outside can catch most issues early. Curious if anyone's tried drone inspections yet...seems like it could save a lot of hassle (and nightmares).

- Drone checks sound cool, but wouldn't they miss subtle signs of moisture buildup underneath?
- Honestly, proper insulation and ventilation tackle the root cause better than heated cables.
- Also, green roofs can naturally manage runoff—anyone seen how they handle winter ice issues?

Totally agree—heated cables are more of a band-aid fix. I've found that green roofs do pretty well in winter, but you still need to watch for ice dams forming around drainage points... regular checks help.

I've had mixed results with green roofs myself. They're great at insulating and definitely help manage runoff, but like you said, those drainage areas can be a pain. Last winter, even with regular checks, I still ended up wrestling with ice dams forming near the corners. Ended up tweaking the drainage slope slightly and adding extra insulation underneath—that solved it better than any cable ever could.
