Yeah, hidden rot is sneaky. I’ve seen roofs that look fine from the street, then you get up there and it’s like stepping on a sponge. Midwest winters are rough—ice dams especially. I always tell folks, if you smell something funky in the attic, don’t just light a candle and hope for the best.
