Been looking into roofing options lately, and I'm kinda stuck between shingles and tiles. Shingles seem cheaper and easier to install, but tiles look way nicer and supposedly last longer. Anyone have experience with either? Which do you prefer and why?
Went through this same dilemma a couple years back when we had to replace our roof. Shingles were definitely easier on our wallet, and honestly, I haven't regretted the decision yet. Sure, tiles look great and all, but the extra upfront cost and the need for a stronger roof structure to hold that weight made me pause. Plus, if you ever need repairs, shingles are usually simpler and quicker to fix.
One thing I wondered about thoughβdoes anyone know how much tiles actually boost resale value compared to shingles? I mean, if you're planning to sell down the road, would it really offset the initial higher investment? Curious if anyone has looked into this or had experience selling a house with tile roofing...
