That's a fair point about flexibility. I've managed properties with both setups, and honestly, rafters do make remodeling or attic conversions simpler down the line. Trusses aren't impossible to work around, but they can definitely complicate things—especially if you're thinking about storage or future renovations. Good on you for considering long-term use...it's easy to overlook that stuff when you're just focused on initial construction.

Good point here. A few quick thoughts from my experience inspecting homes:

- Rafters do give you way more wiggle room later on. Seen plenty of homeowners thankful they went that route when they decided to convert the attic into a home office or extra bedroom.
- Trusses aren't evil though, haha... they're usually cheaper and quicker to install, which is why builders love them. But yeah, remodeling around them can be a bit of a headache.
- One thing folks often overlook: ventilation and insulation. Rafters can make it easier to adjust or upgrade these later, whereas trusses can limit your options.

Just something else to chew on while you're weighing your options. Either way, smart move thinking ahead—wish more people did!

Fair points, but honestly, trusses aren't always that limiting. I've seen some pretty creative storage solutions built around them. Plus, they're usually more resource-efficient—less lumber waste overall. Rafters are great, sure...but trusses deserve a fair shake too.

Good points about trusses being resource-efficient. I've definitely seen some clever setups too—like a buddy of mine who built custom shelving right into the truss spaces. Turned out pretty slick, actually. But one thing I wonder about is how trusses hold up in extreme weather situations. From what I've seen after storms, rafters sometimes seem easier to repair or reinforce...anyone have experience with storm damage repairs on trussed roofs?

Had a similar thought myself when we bought our place a few years back. We ended up with trusses mainly because of budget, and honestly they've held up pretty well through some nasty storms. Had one particularly rough windstorm last year that took down branches and fences around the neighborhood, but our roof stayed solid. Repairs might be trickier if something does happen, but so far, fingers crossed...it's been sturdy enough for us.
