Keeping your roof healthy - just saw this on the news

Caught a quick segment on the local news yesterday about roofs and how people are getting way more years out of them by doing some pretty simple stuff. They talked about things like regular cleaning, checking for moss or algae, and even something about reflective coatings to keep the heat down. Honestly, I never really thought about my roof until there's a leak or something, you know? But apparently, a little maintenance can save you a ton of money down the road.

Made me wonder if I'm the only one who's been neglecting this stuff. I mean, I clean my gutters every fall (well, most falls...lol), but that's about it. Curious if anyone else saw this or has tried any of these tips. Are these coatings actually worth it or just another gimmick?

Reflective coatings can be legit, but they're not magic. They mainly help in hot climates by bouncing sunlight off - can cut down your cooling bills a bit. Regular checks for moss and debris are honestly more important...and cheaper, lol.
