"Still, even careful homeowners can underestimate risks... a neighbor of mine slipped on moss he didn't notice beforehand."

Yeah, that's exactly why I'm hesitant to climb up there myself. Even with ideal conditions, there's always that sneaky patch of moss or loose shingle you don't see coming. I usually prefer having someone around—mostly for peace of mind, but also because I'm pretty sure my cat wouldn't call 911 if things went sideways...

Haha, true enough—cats aren't exactly known for their emergency response skills. But seriously, even if you're careful, it's easy to miss something small that can turn into a big problem later. Ever thought about using a drone for quick roof checks? They're surprisingly affordable now, and you don't even have to leave the ground. Plus, who doesn't like playing with a flying camera once in a while...?

Funny you mention drones—I actually borrowed one from my neighbor last summer to check out a weird spot on my roof. Turns out it was just a harmless shadow from a tree branch, but I ended up spotting some loose flashing near the chimney instead. Probably saved me from a nasty leak down the road. Plus, gotta admit, flying that thing around was pretty fun...felt like a kid again.

I've thought about using drones for roof checks myself, but honestly, seems kinda pricey just to spot a few loose shingles. Did you find it easy to control, or was it tricky at first? Might reconsider if it's not too complicated...
