I'd specifically ask about it or even consider a separate HVAC pro for peace of mind.
Yeah, I'd second that. In my experience, inspectors usually just peek into the attic briefly—nothing thorough. Had one inspector completely overlook a blocked soffit vent... ended up needing an HVAC guy to sort out mold issues later. Better safe than sorry.
Totally agree—inspectors can miss things. I'd also suggest doing a quick check yourself beforehand: flashlight in hand, look closely at vents, insulation, and any discoloration... you might catch something small before it turns into a bigger headache. Saved me more than once.
Good points, but I'd caution against relying too heavily on DIY checks. I once had a homeowner proudly tell me he'd inspected everything himself—only to find out later he missed subtle flashing issues around the chimney. Sometimes experience does count for something...
Fair enough, but DIY checks can still be pretty useful if you know what to look for. I've found that using a checklist helps—step by step, checking shingles, gutters, flashing, and attic spaces. But yeah, nothing beats a pro's eye for those sneaky chimney issues...

True, DIY checks are handy, but have you ever seen someone confidently climb up there, checklist in hand, only to miss a glaring issue because they didn't know what they didn't know? I've had clients swear their roof was fine, then I pull out a chunk of rotten plywood from under perfectly decent-looking shingles... awkward silence follows. DIY is great, but sometimes a pro's "been there, fixed that" experience saves more headaches (and cash) in the long run.
