I get what you’re saying about the attic notes sounding dramatic, but I’m always torn between fixing stuff right away and trying to stretch my budget. Like, I know moisture is a big deal—my neighbor ignored a tiny leak and ended up with a $4k mold remediation bill. Still, sometimes those inspection reports make it sound like the sky’s falling, and I wonder if they’re just covering their bases or if every little thing really needs urgent attention.

I did patch up a bathroom fan vent last year myself (YouTube is a lifesaver), and it wasn’t too bad, but now I’m second-guessing if I should’ve just called someone in. How do you all decide when to DIY versus hiring out? Especially for stuff in the attic where you can’t see the problem until it’s already gotten worse... Is there a rule of thumb for what’s worth spending on up front?
