I’ve managed a few buildings where “just a drip” turned into a full-blown ceiling collapse in under a month. Folks always underestimate how fast water moves, especially if you’ve got blown-in insulation or older decking. Insurance is brutal about denying claims if they spot old stains, too. I’d never risk waiting—cheaper to get it checked right away than gamble with mold remediation and structural repairs.
