You’re spot on about the slope—learned that one the hard way myself. I used to think a perfectly flat deck was the way to go, but after a couple winters here, I ended up with warped boards and a slimy mess. That little bit of pitch really makes a difference, even if it’s barely noticeable. And I totally agree on the flashing; it’s not magic, but it does buy you some time. Funny how the details you barely see end up saving the most hassle down the road.
