I’ve had similar results—ceramic coating definitely keeps the paint looking richer, and it’s way easier to rinse off grime. I will say, though, if your car sits outside a lot like mine does, you’ll still see some fading over time. It’s not a miracle cure, but compared to waxing every few months, it’s less work overall. The initial cost stings, but I figure it pays off in saved time and fewer trips to the detailer. Just wish these reds didn’t show every speck of dust...
- Totally with you on the dust—my “fire engine red” hatchback is basically a pollen magnet.

“Just wish these reds didn’t show every speck of dust...”
- Did the ceramic thing too, and yeah, it’s easier to clean, but I still spend half my Saturday chasing spots.
- At this point, I think the car’s just showing off how much yard work I’m not doing...
Red paint is wild for this. I’ve got a “candy apple” red coupe and it’s like every bit of dust, pollen, or even water spots just pop out. I did the ceramic coating too—definitely helps with washing, but I still see every little thing. Is it something about the pigments in red paint that makes it so unforgiving? Or maybe the clear coat reacts differently? I’ve noticed some brands’ reds fade faster too, especially if you park outside a lot. Anyone else see that, or is it just me being picky?
Red is such a pain, honestly. I’ve got a red sedan and it’s the same deal—every speck of dust or water mark just jumps out at you. I think part of it is just how much red pops compared to other colors, but yeah, some brands’ reds seem to fade way faster. Sun exposure definitely doesn’t help. Even with ceramic coating, I’m always wiping it down. Sometimes I wonder if it’s worth the hassle, but then again, nothing looks as sharp as a clean red car.
Red cars are basically the divas of the driveway—gorgeous, but high maintenance. I had a red coupe back in the day and honestly, it was like owning a pet that sheds constantly. Every bit of pollen, every water spot... just right there in your face. But when it’s clean? Man, it turns heads. I get the frustration, but I still think it’s worth the extra elbow grease. At least you never lose it in a parking lot.
