"If rain is imminent, it's usually best practice to postpone painting entirely or at least ensure you have reliable protection like tarps ready to deploy quickly."
While I agree in principle, sometimes waiting isn't always practical—especially if you're juggling limited free time or unpredictable weather forecasts. When I painted our shed last month, the forecast was clear all day, then suddenly changed to rain within 2 hours. I ended up using a quick-dry outdoor paint, and honestly, despite the drizzle, it held up surprisingly well. Not ideal obviously... but these paints might be more reliable than we think.
Had a similar experience painting my deck last spring. Forecast was clear, then clouds rolled in halfway through. I used one of those quick-dry acrylic paints, and honestly, it survived the unexpected sprinkle pretty well—no peeling or bubbling yet. Makes me wonder if manufacturers are quietly improving formulas for situations like this... Has anyone else noticed newer paints handling moisture better than older ones?
