Went hiking last weekend and noticed a lot more litter than usual along the trails. Kind of a bummer, you know? Anyway, I started carrying an extra reusable bag in my backpack—doesn't weigh anything really—and just pick up bits of trash as I go. It's surprising how quickly it fills up, especially with wrappers and plastic bottles. Feels good to leave the place nicer than I found it.
Also, a friend mentioned she always brings along an old pair of gardening gloves so she doesn't have to touch anything gross directly. Smart idea, might try that next time.
Curious if anyone else has little tricks or habits they use when they're out enjoying nature to help keep things tidy. Maybe something simple I haven't thought of yet?

That's actually pretty smart—never thought about gloves before. But do you ever worry that picking up litter yourself might make others think it's okay to leave stuff behind, since "someone else will clean it up"? Not saying we shouldn't help, just wondering if there's a way to encourage people to pack it out themselves... maybe signage or something?
