What should I consider when choosing top structure shed fabrication services and tarpaulin for industrial or outdoor use?

Honestly, after seeing how quick timber rots, I’ve started looking into green roofs for sheds.

Green roofs are really intriguing—I've read they help with insulation too, which could be a bonus in extreme temps. But I’m curious, did you run into any issues with the added weight? I keep hearing you need to reinforce most standard shed frames for that.

We did a job last summer where the client wanted a full sedum green roof on their backyard shed. The weight was no joke—had to beef up the rafters and add extra support posts, even though the shed was only 10x12. The insulation benefits were noticeable, but the upfront work was more than most folks expect. Did you look into modular tray systems, or were you thinking of a full soil layer? Those trays can be lighter, but not everyone likes the look.

We went with the full soil layer once, and man, it was a beast to get up there. The trays are definitely easier on your back, but I get why some folks think they look too “modular.” If you’re after that wild, seamless meadow vibe, the soil’s hard to beat... just be ready for some serious reinforcement. Learned that lesson the sweaty way.

Yeah, I hear you on the modular look—sometimes it just doesn’t blend the way you want. When you went with the full soil layer, did you notice any issues with drainage or water pooling? I’ve seen some sheds where the wrong tarpaulin or a weak structure just made things worse, especially after heavy rain. Wondering if anyone’s tried a hybrid approach—like trays for the edges and soil in the middle—or is that just asking for trouble?

- Trays on the edges sound smart for keeping things tidy, but I’d worry about water running off and pooling in the middle soil section.
- Tried something similar with gravel instead of trays—honestly, it got messy after a few storms.
- Anyone had luck with a thicker tarp or double layering to help with drainage?
- Not sure if mixing materials just creates more weak spots... thoughts?
