multiple insurance claims in one year—would that raise eyebrows?

I was chatting with a friend yesterday, and we got onto this weird hypothetical scenario. Let's say someone has a really unlucky year—like, first their basement floods after a storm, then a few months later a tree branch crushes their car roof, and then, just to top it off, their house gets burglarized. Um, pretty rough year, right? Anyway, we started wondering if filing all these insurance claims within the same year would cause problems. Like, would the insurance company get suspicious or raise premiums drastically? Or even worse, could they drop coverage altogether?

I've never had to file multiple claims myself (knock on wood), but now I'm curious how insurance companies typically react to situations like this. Would they see it as just bad luck or start thinking something fishy is going on?

Honestly, I doubt they'd immediately jump to suspicions of fraud, but multiple claims in quick succession would definitely put you on their radar. Insurance companies aren't charities—they're businesses. Premium hikes or even policy non-renewal wouldn't surprise me at all, unlucky or not.
