Noticed something odd yesterday. Was just chilling on the sofa and glanced up, and there's these weird darkish spots appearing on the ceiling above the living room. They're kinda brownish-yellow, sorta spread out in patches...definitely weren't there last week. Thought at first maybe it was shadows or something, but nope, they're definitely stains.
It's not directly under the bathroom or anything, so I'm scratching my head a bit. Could it be from moisture buildup or humidity? We did have a heavy rainstorm a while back, but didn’t notice any leaks or dripping sounds then. I'm no handyman, but water damage is my first guess. Hoping it's something minor, you know, just paint discoloration or something easy to fix...but kinda worried there's something more serious going on.
Anyone dealt with something similar before or got advice on what I should check first? Really hoping I don't have to rip open the ceiling or anything drastic.

Yep, sounds like classic water stains to me—probably sneaky roof leak after that storm. Check your attic insulation for dampness...and maybe peek outside for loose shingles. Fingers crossed it's minor, but don't ignore it too long.
