"Roof vents are prime entry points; solid metal mesh covers (not plastic!) can save headaches later."

Couldn't agree more on the metal mesh—plastic just doesn't cut it. I've seen raccoons rip through plastic vent covers like they're opening snack bags. One thing I'd add is trimming back tree branches near the roofline. Critters use them as highways straight onto your shingles. Curious if anyone's had luck with ultrasonic repellents or if that's mostly marketing hype...

- Metal mesh is solid advice, but honestly, I've had mixed results with ultrasonic repellents.
- Installed a few around a property last year after squirrels kept chewing through soffits... seemed promising at first, but after about a month, the critters were back like nothing changed.
- Maybe they get used to the sound frequency? Or perhaps it's just marketing hype after all.
- Agree on trimming branches, though—had a tenant whose attic became a raccoon Airbnb because of an overhanging oak branch. Once we trimmed that back, no more unwanted guests.
- One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet: chimney caps. Had birds nesting in chimneys before, and metal caps solved that issue quickly.
- Curious if anyone else has tried scent-based repellents like predator urine pellets? Heard mixed reviews but never tested myself...

Yeah, ultrasonic repellents seem pretty hit-or-miss to me too. Had a client swear by predator urine pellets once, but honestly, I couldn't tell if it was the pellets or just luck. Chimney caps are definitely underrated though—seen plenty of bird nests and even bats setting up shop without them. Wonder if anyone's had success with motion-activated sprinklers for roof pests... seems like an interesting alternative.

- Tried motion sprinklers once—worked great for raccoons on the lawn, but roof pests... not so much.
- Chimney caps are a must, totally agree. Seen too many nests causing moisture buildup.
- Predator pellets? Sounds like voodoo roofing to me, haha.

Haha, yeah, predator pellets always seemed a bit sketchy to me too... like, do squirrels even care about wolf pee? Anyway, speaking of chimney caps, totally agree they're essential. I've seen some weird stuff up there—once found a whole family of birds nesting comfortably, causing moisture and mold issues inside. Motion sprinklers sound fun though, maybe good for pranking neighbors but probably not roof critters. Has anyone tried ultrasonic repellents? Curious if those actually work or just another gimmick...
