Anyone else tried those mushroom-style roof vents on sheds?

“screen just gives a false sense of security in winter, in my experience.”

That’s been my take too. I tried those mushroom vents last winter—definitely less ice buildup than mesh, but still got some freezing after a couple heavy storms. Anyone else notice critters getting in around the edges, though? I’m not totally sold yet...

Had a raccoon family move in through a mushroom vent last February—guess they liked the “open concept” design. Less ice, sure, but I still had icicles hanging off the inside after that big nor’easter. I’ve tried weatherstripping the edges, but it’s a bit like putting a Band-Aid on a leaky dam. Not convinced these vents are the magic fix, but at least they’re entertaining the local wildlife...
