Totally agree—salt corrosion is sneaky as heck. I thought my roof was mint until I climbed up last summer and found rust hiding under the edges. Wax coatings help a bit, but honestly, nothing beats regular checks and spot treatments. Learned that one the hard way...

Yeah, I feel you on that one. When we first moved near the coast, I thought people were exaggerating about salt air damage—until I found my shed hinges practically crumbling after just two years. I mean, who checks hinges regularly, right? But now it's become a habit to do a quick walk-around every few months. Spot treatments really do save you from bigger headaches down the line. And honestly, even though it's a bit of a pain, there's something satisfying about catching rust early and dealing with it yourself. Makes me feel like I'm actually winning against nature... at least temporarily. Hang in there, sounds like you're already ahead of the game!

Yeah, regular checks are definitely key. I remember helping out on a roof job near the beach last summer, and we found corrosion in spots you'd never even think to look. Wax coatings slow things down, sure, but nothing beats catching it early and dealing with it head-on. Sounds like you've got a solid routine going—stick with it, and you'll save yourself plenty of headaches down the road.

Exactly this. Did an inspection on a coastal property last spring—owner swore up and down the roof was pristine. But once I got up there, found rust tucked away behind flashing and under vent edges. Salt air gets everywhere, even places that seem sealed tight. Wax coatings help, but nothing beats regular visual checks and proactive maintenance. Sounds like you're already ahead of most folks on this one...

Yeah, salt air is sneaky stuff. Wax coatings might buy you some time, but honestly, they're more of a band-aid than a real fix. I've seen roofs treated religiously with protective sprays still rust out in hidden corners. Best bet is to pick corrosion-resistant materials from the start—aluminum or stainless steel flashing can make a huge difference. Costs more upfront, sure, but saves headaches down the line...
