"Ventilation isn't intuitive, so I get why folks try it... but man, it can cause headaches later."

Exactly. I've seen some pretty creative DIY "solutions" that ended up causing way more problems than they solved. It's good you caught onto the ventilation issue early—most people overlook that and chase phantom leaks for months. Roofing companies that actually diagnose properly instead of just upselling are rare, glad you found one. It'll save you a lot of frustration in the long run.

Glad you found someone reliable—good roofers are like gold. Curious though, did they recommend any specific ventilation setup or products? When we redid ours, the contractor suggested ridge vents, but I've heard mixed things about them. Ended up going with soffit vents and a couple of turbines instead... seems okay so far, but I'm always second-guessing myself. Did your roofer mention anything about pros and cons of different vent types?

- Had ridge vents installed on my last house—honestly wasn't impressed.
- Noticed uneven airflow, attic still felt stuffy in spots.
- Current place has soffit vents paired with turbines, similar to yours.
- Seems more consistent overall, but turbines can get noisy on windy nights... minor annoyance.
- Roofer mentioned ridge vents look cleaner aesthetically, but admitted they're not always as effective depending on roof shape and attic layout.
- Said turbines move air better, but yeah, noise and maintenance can be drawbacks.
- Bottom line, no perfect solution—depends heavily on your roof setup and personal tolerance levels.

Yeah, turbines can def get noisy on windy nights... had a similar setup at my folks' place. Still, sounds like your roofer gave you solid advice—nice when they actually level with you about pros and cons instead of upselling.

Yeah, it's always refreshing to hear about roofers who keep it real. Had a similar experience last year when we were dealing with attic ventilation issues. Initially, I thought turbines were the way to go, but our roofer pointed out the noise factor too. He recommended ridge vents instead, explaining they'd give us decent airflow without the nighttime racket. Glad we listened—haven't regretted it yet. Turbines definitely do their job, but man, those windy nights can make you second-guess your choices...
