Just wanted to share a quick win here—after weeks of stressing about my leaky roof (thanks, Florida storms 🙄), I finally found a roofing contractor who actually did what they promised. You know how it is, you call around, get quotes, and half the time they either ghost you or jack up the price halfway through. But these guys were different. They showed up on time, finished the job without any surprise charges, and even cleaned up after themselves (shocking, right?). Roof looks great, no more leaks, and my wallet isn't crying for once.

Curious if anyone else has had a similar experience lately. Feels like finding a decent contractor is like winning the lottery sometimes, lol.

Glad you had a good experience, but honestly, I wouldn't call it winning the lottery—more like finally getting what you paid for. I've dealt with dozens of contractors over the years, and while it's true some are flaky or overpriced, there are plenty of reliable ones out there if you know how to vet them properly.

In my experience, the key is being upfront about expectations and getting everything in writing. If you're clear from the start about deadlines, materials, and cleanup, most decent companies will deliver exactly that. Sure, there are always exceptions, but I wouldn't say it's as rare as you're suggesting. Maybe you've just had a run of bad luck?

Anyway, glad your roof's sorted. Next time, try asking around locally first—word-of-mouth recommendations usually beat random calls every time.

Gotta disagree slightly here... even with clear expectations, I've seen plenty of contractors who still manage to drop the ball. Had one roofer who literally left a pile of shingles in my driveway for a week after finishing—despite it being clearly stated in writing they'd handle cleanup. Sure, vetting helps, but sometimes you just can't predict when someone decides to slack off.

I do agree word-of-mouth is usually safer than random calls though. But honestly, finding a reliable roofer can still feel like playing darts blindfolded... you might hit the bullseye eventually, but you'll probably poke a few holes in the wall first. Glad OP finally got lucky!

Yeah, clear expectations help, but they're definitely no guarantee. Curious though—did you check reviews beforehand or was it mostly word-of-mouth? Sometimes even solid recommendations miss the mark... luck of the draw, I guess.

Reviews help, but they're not foolproof. Seen plenty of contractors with glowing reviews still drop the ball. Best bet is to clearly outline expectations upfront and get everything in writing—saves headaches later on. Glad it worked out for you though.
