Eye and hand protection: disposable vs. reusable gear?

I hear you on the anti-fog glasses—honestly, I’ve tried a few “anti-fog” brands and still end up wiping them off every half hour when it’s muggy. Only thing that’s worked for me is the kind with foam gaskets and vents, but they’re bulkier and not cheap. For gloves, I keep a stash of both disposables and reusable cut-resistant ones in my truck. The trick is actually remembering where you left them... I started keeping a small bin by each main entry, helps a bit. Anyone else just end up buying new gear because they can’t find the old stuff?

Losing gear is basically a rite of passage, right? I swear, I’ve bought the same pair of cut-resistant gloves at least three times because they vanish into thin air. The bin trick helps, but only if I actually remember to put stuff back in it... which is hit or miss after a long day.

On the anti-fog glasses, I totally get the frustration. The ones with foam gaskets are the only thing that’s kept my vision clear during humid storm cleanups, but yeah, they’re bulky and make me look like I’m prepping for a chemical spill. Still, I’d rather look goofy than risk an eye injury. I’ve tried those anti-fog wipes too—mixed results at best.

Honestly, I lean toward reusable gloves for most jobs, but I keep disposables around for the really nasty stuff. It’s just easier to toss them after dealing with insulation or moldy debris. But man, the cost adds up when you keep losing them. At this point, I just accept that buying new gear is part of the job... but it still stings every time I find a “lost” glove wedged behind the seat months later.

That’s the story of my truck too—gloves and safety glasses everywhere. Curious if anyone’s found a storage method that actually sticks? I’ve tried bins, hooks, even labeling, but stuff still disappears after a long shift.

I hear you—my backseat’s basically a graveyard for single gloves and scratched-up safety glasses. I tried one of those seat-back organizers, but after a couple weeks it just turned into another black hole. Only thing that’s helped a bit is keeping a stash of disposables in the door pocket, but even then, stuff still vanishes after a long day. Maybe it’s just the nature of the beast...

That’s exactly what happened to me. I bought this “heavy-duty” organizer thinking it’d solve all my problems, but now it’s just where gloves go to disappear forever. I swear, I’ve lost more single gloves than socks at this point. And don’t even get me started on safety glasses—mine seem to multiply scratches just by existing.

Honestly, I keep telling myself I’ll switch to reusable gear to save money, but then I forget them in the garage or they end up caked in mud from last weekend’s yard project. Disposables are convenient, but I feel like I’m always running out at the worst possible time. Maybe it’s just part of owning a house? Stuff gets lost, things break, and you end up buying way more gloves than you ever thought possible.

If anyone figures out how to keep track of both gloves in a pair for more than a week, let me know...
