I was chatting with my neighbor yesterday, and he mentioned something that kinda surprised me. Apparently, if water pools up on your roof (you know, ponding), it can actually mess with your roofing warranty. I mean, I knew standing water wasn't great for roofs—obviously—but didn't realize it could straight-up void the warranty. He said some manufacturers have clauses buried in the fine print about ponding water being a no-go.

Got me thinking... how long does water have to sit there before it's considered "ponding"? Like, is a day or two after heavy rain enough to cause issues, or are we talking weeks here? And does this apply to all roofing types or just certain materials?

Honestly, warranties always seem like they're full of sneaky loopholes anyway. If anyone knows more about this or has dealt with warranty issues because of ponding, it'd be cool to hear your experience.
