Still, nothing stops those bark nuggets in a big storm...

Funny, I tried those heavier pine nuggets thinking they'd stay put, but after last year’s downpour, half of them ended up clogging my drain. Have you ever tried edging or barriers to keep the mulch in place? I’m wondering if that’s worth the hassle or just another thing for the squirrels to mess with.

I tried those little plastic barriers once—looked tidy for about a week, then the squirrels figured out how to use them as a launch pad. After a big storm, I found mulch everywhere except where it was supposed to be. Ever thought about switching up the ground cover entirely? I went with sedum patches on one side of my yard, and it’s been way less chaotic in heavy rain. Not perfect, but at least nothing’s clogging my drains these days...

Mulch flying everywhere after a storm sounds all too familiar. I’ve tried edging, rocks, even those “mulch mats”—none survived the squirrels or the rain for long. Sedum’s an interesting idea. Did you prep the soil first or just plant right into what was there? I’m wondering if that’d work in shadier spots, or if it needs full sun to really take off. My backyard’s got a mix of both, so I’m always second-guessing what’ll actually stick around.
