Is it just me or do contractor estimates never match insurance paperwork?

Every time I get an estimate from a contractor after insurance approves repairs, there always seems to be some weird mismatch. Like insurance covers certain things but then the bids come in all over the place and don't line up. Um, it's honestly pretty frustrating because I end up feeling caught in the middle trying to figure out who's right. Anyone else dealing with this headache, or am I just unlucky?

Honestly, insurance paperwork often uses standard pricing models that don't always reflect real-world costs, especially if there's custom work or hidden issues. Contractors usually price based on actual materials and labor. It's not about luckβ€”more about different calculation methods. Pretty common headache, unfortunately...
