How often do you actually get your business roof checked?

Monthly checks aren’t overkill at all, especially with green roofs. I’ve seen root intrusion sneak up fast if you’re not watching. Even with a good drainage layer, debris builds up quicker than you’d think. I do quarterly pro inspections, but those quick walkarounds really do catch the weird stuff early.

That’s interesting—never thought about root intrusion happening that fast. Do you ever find stuff like birds nesting or critters messing with the drainage when you do those walkarounds? I’ve only helped with flat roofs so far, but even those seem to collect random junk pretty quick.

Yeah, actually—one time I found a whole squirrel stash of acorns jammed in a corner drain. Thought it was just leaves at first, but nope. Birds are sneaky too, especially under HVAC units. Flat roofs seem to turn into a magnet for weird junk, not just leaves, but random stuff like plastic bags or even a baseball once. Never a dull moment up there.

Yeah, it’s wild what ends up on those roofs. I’ve pulled out everything from a shopping cart wheel to half a kid’s Halloween costume. But here’s what I’m wondering—do folks actually check their roofs often enough to catch this stuff before it clogs things up? I feel like most people wait till there’s a leak or backup, and by then, you’ve got a mess. Maybe I’m just skeptical, but I don’t buy that every business does regular checks like they claim...
