"Leaves and twigs seem way more problematic around here... maybe it depends on the trees around your place?"

Yeah, could be the type of trees for sure, but honestly pollen's sneaky. Didn't realize how bad it was til I saw it caked up like glue after a dry spell. Definitely worth keeping an eye on.

- Yeah, pollen surprised me too... didn't even think about it til I saw that yellowish crust forming.
- First year owning a home here, still figuring out the gutter schedule myself.
- Seems like every season brings its own gutter drama—leaves in fall, pollen in spring, random twigs after storms.
- Guess it's just part of the homeowner learning curve, huh? Glad I'm not alone in this!

Yeah, pollen buildup can sneak up on you. I've found twice a year usually covers it—once late fall after most leaves drop, and again in late spring once pollen season wraps up. But if your area gets heavy storms, it's worth checking gutters after those too. Learned that the hard way when a clogged gutter overflowed and caused some siding damage... not fun. Just part of the joys of homeownership, I guess.

Twice a year is usually enough for me too, but honestly, I've started checking mine more often now—especially after those random heavy rainstorms. Had one overflow last summer and it washed out some landscaping I spent way too much time on... lesson learned. Curious, does anyone here use gutter guards or screens? I've been thinking about installing them, but I'm skeptical if they're actually worth the money or just another gimmick.

I get why you might think gutter guards are a gimmick, but honestly, they've been a game changer for me. Installed them last fall after getting fed up with constantly cleaning out leaves... haven't had any overflow issues since, even with heavy storms. Sure, they're not totally maintenance-free—you still have to check for debris buildup occasionally—but it's way less hassle. If your landscaping matters that much to you, I'd say they're probably worth giving a shot.
