Been thinking about roofs lately (exciting, I know, lol). Anyway, neighbor just switched from asphalt shingles to metal roofing and swears it's way betterβless maintenance, lasts forever, and even saves on cooling bills. Got me wondering if metal's really worth the extra upfront cost. One thing he mentioned was how snow slides right off metal roofs, which sounds great for winter. Curious if anyone's got experience or tips about either type...or maybe some hidden downsides?

Yeah, same thought crossed my mind when I bought my place last year. Ended up sticking with asphalt shingles for budget reasons, but now kinda wish I'd splurged on metal. Had a nasty snowstorm last winterβspent way too many mornings scraping snow off the roof edges to prevent ice dams. Your neighbor's right about snow sliding off metal roofs...would've saved me some chilly mornings for sure. If you can swing it, might be worth it long-term.
