Been thinking about redoing my roof lately and got stuck between clay tiles and concrete tiles. Clay tiles look pretty classy and I heard they last longer, but they're also pricier. Concrete tiles seem more budget-friendly and durable enough, but maybe not as nice-looking? Anyone have experience with either type and can share how it worked out for you?

I went through pretty much the same dilemma a couple years back. Wanted clay tiles at first—yeah, they look awesome and have that classic vibe—but then reality hit when I saw the price quotes. Ouch. Concrete tiles ended up being my pick, mostly because my wallet wouldn't forgive me otherwise.

Honestly, they've been solid so far. Had a couple nasty storms blow through last year, and the roof didn't flinch. Sure, concrete doesn't have the same charm as clay, but once they're up there, you kinda stop noticing after a while. Plus, from the street, most people can't even tell the difference unless they're really staring (and who does that?). If you're trying to keep costs down and still get something durable, concrete's a pretty safe bet. Just make sure you find someone decent to install them—heard some horror stories about rushed jobs causing leaks later on...
