Totally agree about the attic hatch—mine was leaking warm air too. Another sneaky spot was around recessed lighting fixtures... didn't realize they could let so much heat escape. Sealing those up made a noticeable difference in moisture and comfort levels.

Good catch on the recessed lights—those fixtures can be surprisingly tricky. I've seen a few cases where homeowners didn't realize the gaps around them were basically acting like mini chimneys, pulling warm air right into the attic. Glad sealing them up helped your moisture issue.

Yeah, recessed lights are sneaky little culprits, aren't they? Ever notice how it's always the smallest gaps causing the biggest headaches? I've also seen bathroom fan vents doing something similar—poorly insulated ducts letting warm, moist air sneak into cold attics and creating mystery drips at the weirdest times. Makes you wonder what other innocent-looking fixtures are secretly plotting moisture mayhem up there... Glad sealing those lights did the trick for you though.

Had a similar mystery drip myself last winter—thought for sure it was the roof leaking. Spent a whole weekend crawling around the attic with a flashlight, only to find out it was condensation from the dryer vent duct. Turns out the duct had come loose and warm air was sneaking into the cold attic space, creating those annoying drips. Makes me wonder how many other little surprises my house has hidden away...

Had a client with something similar last year:

- Mystery drip, cold attic, wintertime... sounded like textbook roof leak.
- Crawled up there expecting the worst—shingles looked fine, flashing all good.
- Turns out it was bathroom exhaust fan ducting. Someone had vented it straight into the attic insulation (why?!). Moisture built up, froze, then melted into drips.
- Always skeptical when folks jump straight to "roof leak." Usually something simpler and sneakier.
- Agree though, houses seem to love hiding these little surprises. Keeps life interesting I guess...
