Haha, roof ghosts...I like that. Reminds me of this one job I had a couple years back. Homeowner swore up and down they had a leak—every night, around 2am, they'd hear dripping noises right above their bedroom ceiling. They even set alarms to catch it in the act (talk about dedication).

Anyway, I climbed up there twice, checked shingles, vents, flashing—everything looked solid. No signs of water intrusion anywhere. Third time out, I'm crawling around in the attic with a flashlight at 1:30am (yeah, roofing can get weird sometimes), and sure enough...drip...drip...drip.

Turns out it wasn't even condensation or blocked vents—it was their AC ductwork sweating in the attic because someone had accidentally covered it with insulation during a DIY weekend project. The moisture would build up all day and drip down at night when things cooled off. Took about five minutes to fix once we figured it out.

Point is, roofs can be sneaky little puzzles sometimes. And yeah, phantom drips are definitely a thing—you're not losing your mind (at least not yet). Hang in there and keep checking those odd spots you wouldn't normally think about. You'll eventually catch that ghost red-handed...or wet-handed? You know what I mean.

Haha, sweating ducts strike again...had a similar issue in one of our buildings. Took forever to pinpoint. Roofs really do have a twisted sense of humor sometimes—glad you caught your ghost!

Roof vents really are sneaky little troublemakers, aren't they? Had my own dance with a mysterious drip last winter. Thought it was a leak from melting snow at first, but nope—turned out to be condensation building up inside the ducting. Took me ages to figure that one out. Did you find your issue was worse during certain weather conditions or times of day?

In my case, it was always late evening through early morning. I'd wake up to this steady "drip-drip-drip" sound echoing through the attic space above our bedroom. Drove me nuts for weeks because whenever I'd climb up there in daylight hours, everything seemed bone dry...like the roof was playing hide-and-seek with me. Finally caught it red-handed one chilly night around midnight (flashlight and all, felt like a detective on stakeout). Turns out warm indoor air meeting cold metal ducts created just enough moisture to mimic an actual leak.

Ended up insulating the ducts and tweaking some venting angles—problem solved. Funny how something so simple can cause such confusion and frustration... Have you tried insulating or adjusting your vents yet? Curious if you've found any other clever solutions I might've missed.

Had a similar issue last fall—mine was worse whenever temps dropped quickly after sunset. Insulating helped, but I also added a small vent fan on a timer to circulate air overnight. Haven't heard a drip since...might be worth trying if insulation alone doesn't cut it.

Had the same annoying drip a couple winters back—drove me nuts trying to pinpoint it. Insulation helped a bit, but airflow was the real game changer. Ended up installing a small attic fan too, but mine's humidity-triggered instead of on a timer. Kicks on automatically when moisture builds up. Haven't had any midnight drip mysteries since...knock on wood. Might be another option if timers aren't your thing.
