Your attic hatch theory makes sense, but honestly, I'd still be cautious about ruling out roof vents completely. Had a similar drip issue at my folks' place last year—thought sealing the attic hatch would fix it, but nope, still had condensation. Turned out their soffit vents were partly blocked by insulation. Cleared those up, airflow improved, and the dripping stopped. So yeah, checking your attic hatch is smart...but definitely don't overlook your vents either.

Good point about the vents—it's easy to overlook them, especially when you're focused on something obvious like the attic hatch. Had a similar issue myself a couple winters back. Thought I'd nailed it by sealing up the hatch, but nope...still had that annoying drip-drip at 2 AM (why always in the middle of the night?). Turned out my ridge vent was partially blocked by debris from a storm. Cleared it out, and problem solved.

Honestly, attic ventilation is one of those sneaky things—you think you've got it figured out, then something else pops up. I've also seen cases where people add insulation thinking it'll help, but accidentally block airflow instead. So yeah, definitely worth double-checking those vents before you call it done. Good luck with your midnight mystery drip...been there, done that, not fun.

Totally agree with this. Just when you think you're set, nature decides otherwise. Had a similar issue—turned out soffit vents were painted over by previous owners. Quick scrape and repaint fixed it...finally slept drip-free!

Haha, isn't that the truth? Had a similar battle myself. Thought I had nailed it after installing ridge vents, but nope—condensation still showed up randomly. Turned out insulation was blocking airflow in spots. Took some rearranging, but finally got it sorted. Good on you for catching those painted-over vents... previous owners can leave some interesting surprises, can't they? Glad you finally got some peace and quiet without the midnight drip drama.

Haha, you got that right. Reminds me of the time I inspected a place where the homeowner proudly showed off their "brand new" attic insulation. Looked great at first glance, but when I poked around, found they'd completely covered the soffit vents. No wonder they had moisture issues. Sometimes it's the little details—like airflow—that make all the difference. Glad you finally got yours sorted... midnight drips are no fun.
