Did you notice if the condensation was worse during certain weather conditions or temperatures? Had a similar issue myself, and it seemed to flare up mostly on colder nights. I was skeptical about insulation too—seemed like a band-aid fix—but wrapping the pipe did the trick for me as well. Sometimes the simplest solutions really are best, huh?

Also curious, did you wrap just the vent pipe itself or did you add insulation around the attic area nearby? I've heard mixed opinions on whether insulating the surrounding space helps or if it's overkill. Glad you didn't end up buying another gadget though... attic checks might be a pain, but they're usually pretty reliable.

Had a similar issue last winter—noticed the dripping was definitely worse on colder nights, especially when temps dropped suddenly. At first, I wrapped just the vent pipe itself, thinking that would be enough. It helped a bit, but didn't completely solve it. Eventually, I added some insulation around the attic space near the pipe too. Honestly, I was skeptical about that step at first (felt like overkill), but it made a noticeable difference.

My take is that insulating the surrounding attic area isn't always necessary, but if your attic tends to run colder or has uneven insulation already, it can really help stabilize temps and reduce condensation buildup. Sometimes what seems like overkill ends up being exactly what's needed—at least in my experience. Glad you didn't jump straight into buying another gadget though... those quick-fix products rarely work as well as advertised.

Had a similar experience myself—thought insulating the pipe alone would do the trick, but nope, still had that annoying drip. Ended up sealing some attic air leaks too, and that finally did it. Wonder if air leaks might've been part of your issue too?

Had the same headache last winter—thought insulation alone would save me money, but nope. Finally bit the bullet and sealed those attic leaks... drip vanished. Honestly, sealing air leaks is underrated, cheaper than chasing moisture damage later.

Yeah, sealing leaks definitely helps, but I've seen cases where folks went overboard sealing everything tight and ended up trapping moisture inside. Had a client last year who sealed every nook and cranny—thought he was being thorough—but forgot about proper ventilation. Couple months later, mold city. So yeah, seal those leaks, but don't underestimate the importance of balanced attic ventilation either. It's all about finding that sweet spot between airtight and breathable...
