Rigid boards definitely simplify inspections, but have you considered using tapered insulation boards to help with drainage? Flat roofs are notorious for ponding water, and tapered systems can cut down on moisture headaches later on. Also, when vetting installers, do you ask specifically about their experience with modified bitumen roofs? Sometimes general references aren't enough—digging into their specific project history can save you some grief down the line.

Yeah, tapered insulation seems like a smart move, especially if drainage is a concern. But I'm curious—doesn't the added slope complicate things when you're installing modified bitumen? I've heard some installers grumble about seams and overlaps getting trickier on angled surfaces. Wonder if anyone's run into issues with that or if it's mostly just installer preference...

I've got tapered insulation under my mod bit roof, and honestly, the slope isn't steep enough to cause major headaches. My installer joked it was more annoying than difficult—just took a bit more patience lining things up. No leaks yet, knock on wood...

Yeah, tapered insulation is solid if the slope's gentle enough. Did mine a couple years back—lining up those panels was tedious but manageable. One tip: double-check seams carefully, that's usually where leaks sneak in... learned that the hard way.

Good point about the seams—I see leaks from those spots all the time during inspections. Another thing I've noticed: folks often underestimate how important proper drainage is, even with tapered insulation. Did you add extra drainage points or scuppers when you did yours? I've seen roofs with great insulation still struggle because water just sits there too long. Curious if anyone else has had similar experiences...
