Yeah, that's always the tricky part.
Spray foam can be handy around tricky spots, but I've seen it degrade over time with UV exposure or temperature swings. Rigid foam boards hold up surprisingly well if you pair them with quality flashing and a good polyurethane sealant around penetrations... just my two cents.

True, rigid foam is durable, but from what I've read, it can sometimes trap moisture underneath if not installed perfectly. As a first-timer tackling my own roof insulation recently, I found mineral wool insulation boards to be pretty forgiving—they're breathable and handle temperature swings nicely. Just make sure you have a solid vapor barrier underneath... otherwise, moisture can still creep in.
Mineral wool's definitely forgiving, but honestly, rigid foam isn't that tricky if you're careful with sealing. I've had mine up for about 8 years now—no moisture issues yet. Just gotta keep an eye on those seams and penetrations every now and then...
Good point on the rigid foam—I've found the sealing part isn't as scary as some make it out to be. The first time I tackled mine, I was a bit paranoid about missing spots, but honestly, once you get into a rhythm with the tape and sealant, it's pretty straightforward. Like you said, just checking in every couple years or so is enough peace of mind. Glad yours has held up well for 8 years—that's encouraging to hear as I'm only at year 3 myself...
That's been my experience too—once you get past the initial worry, sealing becomes pretty intuitive. I remember my first project vividly: spent way too long double-checking every seam, convinced I'd missed something critical. Funny thing is, when we went back to inspect a few years later, the spots I fretted about most were perfectly fine. It's usually the overlooked corners or edges that give you trouble down the road...but even then, nothing major if you're checking regularly. Seems like your 3-year mark is right on track.
