Had a similar dilemma myselfβ€”ended up choosing rigid foam mainly for the repair factor. But now I'm curious, did you notice any significant difference in energy savings or comfort levels after going spray foam? Wondering if I missed out...

I went spray foam on a recent project and honestly, comfort-wise it's been pretty noticeable. Energy bills dropped a bit too, but nothing crazy dramatic. I'd say rigid foam still does the job fine, especially if repairs are a priority... wouldn't stress it too much.

Spray foam definitely has its perks, especially sealing up tricky spots and reducing drafts. But honestly, rigid foam boards still hold their own, especially if you're thinking long-term maintenance. I've inspected plenty of roofs where spray foam made leak detection a nightmareβ€”water can travel pretty far under that stuff before you even notice. Rigid foam makes repairs simpler, and paired with a good membrane, it performs solidly. Comfort-wise, spray foam might edge it out slightly, but practicality-wise... rigid foam's still my pick.

That's exactly what worries me about spray foam. As someone new to homeownership, I'm always thinking about the "what ifs"... How difficult is it really to pinpoint leaks with spray foam? And does rigid foam hold up better over time in terms of moisture resistance? I'm leaning toward rigid foam myself, mostly for peace of mind and easier DIY fixes down the road.

I totally get your hesitation about spray foam. Had a similar issue myself a few years backβ€”noticed a small leak in the ceiling, and tracking it down was honestly a headache because the water had traveled several feet under the foam before dripping through. Ended up having to cut out sections just to pinpoint the source. Switched to rigid foam after that, and it's been way easier to manage. Plus, DIY repairs feel less intimidating now...just my two cents from experience.
