"have you ever had issues with them getting clogged up by leaves and stuff?"

Yeah, I've definitely been there. At one property I manage, we had these huge maple trees nearby—beautiful in the fall, but man, those leaves were relentless. After a few weekends spent climbing ladders and scooping out soggy leaf mush (not fun), we finally installed gutter guards. They're not perfect, but they've cut down ladder time dramatically. Might be worth looking into if you're tired of the constant cleanup...

- Just moved into my first place and dealing with this exact issue now.
- Didn't even think about gutter guards... are they pricey or tricky to install?
- Also, does roof color make a difference with leaf buildup, or am I totally overthinking this? lol
- Trying to learn as I go here, appreciate any tips!

Gutter guards can be pretty straightforward to install yourself if you're comfortable on a ladder, but pricing varies a lot depending on the type you pick. I went with some mid-range mesh ones and haven't regretted it yet—saved me from climbing up there every weekend in fall. As for roof color affecting leaf buildup... honestly, never thought about that before. Now you've got me wondering if darker roofs dry out faster and maybe leaves blow off easier? Curious if anyone's noticed a difference.

Interesting thought, but honestly, I doubt roof color makes much difference for leaf buildup. From what I've seen, it's more about roof pitch and wind exposure. Steeper roofs seem to shed leaves quicker regardless of color. But hey, if darker shingles mean fewer weekends on the ladder, sign me up... Has anyone actually noticed a real difference based on color alone?

Yeah, I'm with you on this one—roof color probably doesn't matter much for leaves. My neighbor has a super dark roof, and trust me, he's still up there every fall cursing at the leaves. Pitch definitely seems key...my own roof is pretty steep, and thankfully I rarely have to climb up there. Now if only roof color could magically lower my heating bill, I'd be all over that!
